What happens to what you send.

In plain language, without fine print. If anything here is unclear, ask.

Property tax calculator
Assessed values you type are calculated in your browser and are not saved by the calculator. If you search by address, your search and selected parcel identifier are sent directly to Fairfax County's public GIS service, hosted by ArcGIS, to retrieve public records. The selected parcel's public boundary geometry is also sent to that service to check MCC tax-district membership automatically. The County and ArcGIS may receive normal connection information, such as your IP address. We do not save your search or selected parcel.
What we collect
The topic you choose and your message. Optionally, your name, your email address, and a source link, only if you fill them in. We also record that you confirmed consent.
Contact is optional
You can submit without a name or email. If you include an email, we may use it only to follow up about your submission.
Where it goes
Submissions are saved to a private database. They are not sent by email and are not posted anywhere on this site.
Who can read it
Only the project's reviewers have access. They read submissions to decide which questions to research.
Nothing is auto-published
No submission appears publicly on its own. If we ever wanted to quote a submission, we would ask first, and only if you left contact details.
Please avoid sensitive information
Do not include health, financial, or account details, or private information about other people. Describe the issue, not the person.
Deletion and questions
To ask that something you sent be deleted, email us with your receipt reference if you have it, or enough detail for us to find it.
What we can't promise
This is a small volunteer project. We take care with what you send, but we cannot guarantee confidentiality, and we have not set a fixed retention period. Please write with that in mind.
